How To Make the Jalapeno Poppers

Before you start preparing the ingredients. Preheat the oven at 400° degrees F.

First, prepare the baking sheet with a sheet of parchment paper. So, as you fill each jalapeno and top with the almonds or cheese and/or wrap with bacon, you will be able to just place each popper directly on the baking sheet.

If you are sensitive to the peppers, wear gloves. Cut each jalapeno pepper lengthwise in half, remove stem and seeds. Set aside.

To make the filling: Place all ingredients except sweet peppers in the food processor, blend well until well-combined.

To mix by hand, in a medium-size bowl, combine the cream cheese, 1/4 cup chopped cilantro and green onions, and Johnny’s Garlic Spread Seasoning. Stir to combine.

In a separate small bowl, combine almond flour with the melted butter.

Stuff the peppers with the cream cheese mixture. To each of the peppers with a small mound of cheese lengthwise. Top with the Almond mixture.

Bake for 15 to 20 minutes, until the cheese, is bubbling and starting to turn golden.

Alternatives to cream cheese: Greek yogurt: to use greek yogurt in the recipe you will need a thick consistency, like Fage, Chobani, etc.

Can you freeze Jalapeño Poppers? Yes, baked or leftovers can be freezer, but first, place them on a baking sheet in a single layer. And, place them in the freezer for at least an hour or two. Once they are frozen this way, you can put them in a ziplock bag and they won’t stick together. Moreover, these are good frozen for a couple of months. However, when you are ready to eat them let them thaw on the counter for a while before popping them in the oven.
