Mulled Wine Winter Sangria

Mulled Wine Winter Sangria; made with chilled red wine, oranges, limes, cinnamon sticks, cloves, star anise, lemonade crystal light, raspberry cranberry Mio, sparkling water, brandy …and ice. Doesn’t that sound festive this time of the year? I love Sangria and I wanted to try something new. Not to mention, this is perfect for parties and easy to make. Furthermore, this recipe is like mulled wine and is a fairly classic iteration; using a healthy dose of brandy or orange liqueur to add a little boost. As a matter of fact, warming the mulled wine in a slow cooker makes the recipe super hands-off, and removes the risk of cooking off all of the alcohol out of the beverage.

Also, there are so many uses for wines and any leftover wines;  cooking and to make all kinds of mocktails.

Mulled Wine Sangria Recipe
  • Marinades – great for tenderizing meat. I marinade a lot, especially during the summer.
  • Sangria – a mix of red or white wine, muddled fruit, brandy, sugar, and ice — is a simple way to use up leftover red wine…
  • Spritzers – Pinot Noir, Ginger, ice, and fruit/ rosemary sprig to garnish.
  • Glazes – Oh, WOW, especially on a spiral ham. You can save a lot buying your spiral ham at Costco. It comes with a seasoning pack. I’ve used so many substitutes in place of the water; like dry white wine, rum, crushed pinapple, and juice, orange marmalade, cranberry sauce, wine, bourbon,

Ingredients You will need for Mulled Wine Winter Sangria

  • Red Wine: use a dry red wine, like a Cabernet Sauvignon or Merlot. You don’t need to splurge, but it helps if you are already part of a Wine of the Month Club.
  • Brandy: This is the most common liquor added to Sangria.
  • Sugar-Free Peach Syrup. Perfect for sangria.
  • Crystal-Light Lemonade.
  • Raspberry Cranberry Mio (water enhancer)
  • Cinnamon Sticks: What’s a holiday Sangria without a little cinnamon, these cinnamon sticks will give the sangria a spice tummy-warming flavor that everyone will love.
  • 4 Cloves
  • 2 Star anise
  • 2 oranges
  • lime
  • Sprite, Ginger Ale, or Sparkling Water: A little bit of effervescence never hurt anyone. The addition of ginger ale or sparkling water will give your sangria that edge over all the rest to make it stand out! Make sure to add this right before serving, not overnight!
